Two ledger books containing a hand written biography of Reverend James Balch and genealogical information on the Balch and White families of Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and Oregon. The text was probably copied from an unknown source by George H. Himes, curator of the Oregon Historical Society. Also includes genealogies of the Turman and Coats families. Pages 1-79 of volume 1 contain lists of names and places of residence, probably of members of the Oregon Historical Society or the Oregon Pioneer Association.
